This Watercolour sketch of Ourangi and Pukeokahu was painted from the road to Pukeokahu and is a much loved view from my childhood.
As children we often climbed Pukeokahu with the family who lived there. My mother took sultana cake and a thermos flask with tea. Every time we climbed Pukeokahu Hill we decided that this was the ‘best sultana cake we had ever eaten’.
