Painting in cafes is a singular pleasure. Here are some flowers in watercolour and ink painted in cafes in Germany, New Zealand, Australia and France. Sometimes the baristas or patrons of the cafe comment as they see the drawing emerge. At the tiny Mazagran Cafe in Dunedin, the barista looked over counter at ‘2189 Roses’ (below) and said it looked as if the wind had blown the rose petals onto the page.
