Cellist in waiting

After a winter hiatus my easel is out again. There, waiting patiently, is a cellist waiting for paint.

Beginnings of Cellist

He is on a board, and the last time I painted on board it was a bit of a wrestle as I usually paint on canvas and painting on board is a different technique. I’m not sure if it was the subject matter (beach scene, below) or the board that was the problem. The cellist will show me.

Picture framing with a Prince.

I have had a visitor this last month, a very cute but very schmoozy cat called Prince. Prince is the most cuddle dependent cat of my acquaintance, absolutely determined to sit on your lap at every opportunity.

Prince was meant to stay two weeks while his owner was on holiday but stayed five weeks instead while his owner got rid of the flea infestation he had left behind. I don’t mind cats but having a constant companion determined to sit on whatever work you are doing quickly lost its shine and I was delighted when Prince returned home on Monday.

I am busy framing work for an exhibition next year and doing it without a cat sitting on it is a real pleasure.
