In July 2012 the NZSO performed a concert production of Wagner's second Ring Cycle Opera The Valkyries. The performances were a stunning success.
This painting, 'Siegmund', was painted from sketches and paintings made during The Valkyrie rehearsals in Wellington. New Zealand tenor Simon O'Neill sang the role of Siegmund.
