After a refreshing spring rain in the desert, an enormous rainbow reached from horizon to horizon. The rain had made the sand deep purple. Tiny flowers, shimmering in every colour you could think of, were breaking through the sand to catch a glimpse of the blue sky. Two Kookaburras were chasing each other around the rainbow. They had so much fun that their laughter was heard in all four corners of the continent. A Kookaburra, is a funny bird which lives only in Australia. Kookaburra is the Aboriginal name. In English you could call them Laughing Jack. They really do laugh a lot. |
